Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
App: BookWave (書聲) Developer: appzone.ai Last updated: 22 July 2026
BookWave ("the App", "we", "us") turns photos of your printed book pages into text you can read or listen to. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App handles and why. We keep it simple: the App does not require an account, and we do not sell your data.
1. What we handle
- Your book content — the photos, PDFs, and text you add, along with the recognised text and your reading progress. This is stored locally on your device.
- Purchases — if you buy credits or a subscription, the transaction is processed by Google Play / the App Store (through our billing provider, RevenueCat). We receive a purchase receipt and your credit balance; we do not receive your card details.
2. When data leaves your device
To do its job, the App sends data to trusted processors — only when you use the feature that needs it:
- Text recognition ("Smart Scan"). When you scan a page, the page image is sent to our text‑recognition provider (OpenRouter and the underlying AI model) to convert it into text. The image is used only to return the text and is not used to build a profile of you.
- Listening (natural voices). When you use a premium voice, the text being read is sent to Microsoft's online text‑to‑speech service to generate the audio. On‑device voices do not send any data.
- Purchases. Handled by Google Play / the App Store and RevenueCat as described above.
We do not send this data anywhere else, and we do not attach your name, email, or an advertising identifier to it.
3. What we do NOT do
- No user accounts or sign‑in.
- No advertising and no ad tracking.
- No selling or sharing of your content or personal data.
- No location, contacts, microphone, or health data.
4. Permissions
- Camera / Photos — only to let you capture or pick the book pages you choose to scan.
- Internet — for Smart Scan, premium voices, and purchases.
5. Storage & deletion
Your books live on your device. Deleting a book removes it. Uninstalling the App removes all local book data. Backups you create are ordinary files saved where you choose; you control them.
6. Children
BookWave is a general‑purpose reading tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
